Healthy, beautiful smiles are timeless: A guide to cosmetic dentistry
An attractive smile looks great on everyone, regardless of their “season of life.” Hoover Dental Center works hard to maintain smiles that exude confidence, health, and vibrancy. Regular visits to our office in Los Angeles, California, go a long way to maintaining a smile that looks great. Consider how regular professional cleanings by our dental hygienists remove surface stains, right alongside bacteria and stubborn plaque. Plus, our dentist, Dr. Hee Jee Yoon, examines your mouth for signs of early enamel erosion or gum inflammation. If conditions progress, they can mar the smile’s health, structure, and appearance.
Cosmetic dentistry can restore the aesthetic complications of tooth decay and advanced gum disease. We use quality materials to rebuild portions of the teeth, so they look like the natural tooth structure. Procedures include “white” or composite fillings and porcelain dental crowns. If teeth cannot be “saved” with root canal therapy, prompt tooth replacement with implants, precision dentures, and bridges complete a smile marred by tooth loss. We are also a provider of Invisalign®, the attractive way to straighten your teeth with clear plastic aligners instead of “metal mouth” (gray or silver brackets and wires).
At heart, the above procedures are restorative in nature. They are needed to resolve conditions threatening the health and structure of the teeth, gums, and oral cavity (mouth). “True” cosmetic procedures, however, are recommended to resolve aesthetic imperfections. They are recommended for patients with otherwise healthy teeth and gums. These treatments include:
- Professional teeth whitening – which uses powerful and concentrated whitening gels to remove stains and lighten teeth safely, comfortably, and effectively
- Porcelain veneers – are thin layers of dental ceramic that are applied and bonded to the front surfaces of the teeth to cover up cosmetic concerns – ranging from small spaces between teeth to minor chips and fractures
- Composite bonding – a cost-effective and fast alternative to porcelain veneers that uses a type of resin (plastic) to disguise cosmetic imperfections
- Contouring – a conservative way for Dr. Yoon to skillfully reshape teeth for a more uniform smile (gums may also be contoured to achieve a more balanced gum line)
We won’t know the best way to regain or achieve a smile that you’ll genuinely love until after we evaluate you! Some of these procedures may even be combined for a full smile makeover—call (213) 725-2898 to schedule your appointment at Hoover Dental Center.
